DERBY LITE Fitness Skating Instructor Training & Certification is an online training process that ties together our very first beginner class, where we start with the basics of skates, protective gear, standing, falling, getting up and stopping, with the materials our beginner skaters receive and the information instructors need to lead that most important first class, as well as all the classes that happen next.

**NOTE** All Derby Lite class packages include Instructor Certification for two individuals; no need to purchase separately!

Upon successful completion of Instructor Certification, individuals are entitled to use the Derby Lite Certified Fitness Skating Instructor, CFSI, designation in signatures and resumes.  You will also receive a printed certificate in the mail.

DERBY LITE Fitness Skating Instructor Certification was recorded during a live and in-person instructor training weekend at the Derby Lite: Headquarters location in Oak Park, Illinois.

We spent 12 hours in classroom, off-skates and on-skates learning, and now you can do it from the comfort of your favorite chair... so long as there's also room to get up, move around, and move your body as we describe form and alignment, fitness and footwork.

Once you've watched the videos and studied the materials, you will ask somebody to take video of you completing our Skating Skills Assessment, an approximately 40 minute series of the skating skills our instructors are expected to be able to competently execute, demonstrate and break down in order to teach to participants.

We will also require video of you leading two of our off-skates warm-up series, to show us your "voice" and command of the room, and your knowledge of form and fitness.

You will submit these videos to DL:HQ via Google Drive and we will review them, evaluating your skating and leadership skills, your knowledge of fitness and form, and will provide specific feedback to ensure only the best and safest folks receive the designation of Derby Lite Certified Fitness Skating Instructor, CFSI.
